Pejambon Riverbank Area Development Completed

Gambir Urban Village, Central Jakarta has completed the development of an integrated area along the banks of the Pejambon River, RW 01.

Head of Gambir Urban Village, Rokhmat said the arrangement is not only about planting various types of productive plants and family medicinal plants to create a green and beautiful environment, but also making the location a place for managing inorganic and organic waste.

"This small plot of land also operates a waste bank to process inorganic waste. Organic waste, including food scraps and tree leaves from residents' homes, is processed for maggot cultivation and the production of liquid and solid compost," he said, Tuesday (7/14).

He explained that the volume of waste in his area disposed of at the Bantargebang Landfill has now reached 50 percent, the target set by Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung for August 1. For this achievement, Gambir Urban Village received an award for best urban village in waste management from source.

"We will continue to synergize with various stakeholders so that by 2027 there will be no more waste dumped at the Bantargebang Landfill," he explained.

According to him, the results of maggot cultivation will be used as feed for catfish cultivation in the superior area development area of ​​the Pejambon riverbank, RW 01.

The results of organic waste management in the form of solid and liquid compost will be used to fulfill the fertilizer needs of plants planted along the banks of the Pejambon River.

He added that inorganic waste processing through the RW 01 Waste Bank, in 2026 recorded an income of Rp 46 million which had been received by 90 waste bank customers.
